Cabinet of wonders
Recommended for ages: 6-14 years
Time it takes: 1.5 hours
Cabinets of wonders are known as the predecessors of museums. In them were collected the world’s curiosities, including antiques, technical innovations and even dissected animals. In this activity, the students can become familiar with the concepts of art history and cultural history. They can also improve their organization, categorization and selection skills. The children can make their own cabinet of wonders which they can fill with items specific to their personality. We will talk about why people like to collect and arrange items, treasures and memories.
Repainted Grimaces
Recommended for ages: 8-14 years, 15-18 years
Time it takes: 1.5 hours
This course was inspired by the contemporary fine artist Arnulf Rainer, whose signature technique was repainting. For Rainer, “übermalung” meant not only changing outside appearance, but also concentrating on the point instead of the view, while searching for inner values and identity. For starters we used colors and patches on the paper. With the help of our facial expressions we showed the emotions connected to the colors. We then photographed our repainted portraits and projected them. This course helps the participants reflect on their emotions and connect emotions and concept to colors.
Developing competences: Self-expression, creative and constructive thinking, spatial vision, involvement of digital tools and methods in the creative process, use of adaptations by contemporary artists.
Trough the sessions we make photograph, with applying to the session the participant agree to be recorded or photographed. The pictures will be used in the galleries’ communication materials and press attendance.
